NORTHEAST 2017

The dream trip D. 4 jan. begynder Nordøst turen, også kaldt "the dream trip". Turen varer i 28 dage og for mit vedkommende starter turen i Recife. I morgen den 1 jan. tager hjem til min værtsfars søster, som bor sammen med sin datter på 25 i Recife. Hun har selv været på udveksling, og har inviteret mig der ind, for at give mig en oplevelse men også fordi det er mere praktisk i forhold til lufthavnen osv. Jeg skal tilbringe et par dage med dem, hvor de ville vise mig rundt i byen. Jeg skal flyve fra Recife til Fortaleza. Her skal jeg mødes med alle de andre udvekslingsstudenter.

Hele turen varer i 28 dage, og jeg skal som sagt besøge region nord og øst. Brasilien er jo et kæmpe land, derfor byder turen også men lange busture.

Turen byder på en masse solbadning, besøg til de smukkeste og lækreste Brasilianske strande. Vi skal besøge storbyer, hører historie, danse "Fórro og Samba", ride på heste, lave yoga på stranden og meget mere. Vi skal under turen bo på 3-4 stjernede hoteller.


Jeg har glædet mig rigtig meget til denne her tur, det har været det som jeg har set frem til længe. Det bliver så fedt! Jeg ved ikke endnu hvor mange udvekslingsstudenter vi bliver. Men turen er delt op i 2 dele, så man kan vælge kun at den ene halvdel. Jeg har valgt at tage hele pakken, som forhåbentligt bliver "the dream trip".


Efter eller under turen kommer der naturligvis en opdatering med mine billeder, oplevelser, videoer og fortællinger.


Her er der nogle billeder af hotellerne, som jeg kommer til at bo på. De ser alle samme super tropiske ud. Der er også nogle billeder som giver en lille forsmag på hvad jeg kommer til at opleve.

D. 04/01-17 - FORTALEZA / JERICOACOARA

- 05:40pm – Arrival in Fortaleza.

- 07:00pm – Departure to Jericoacoara.

- 11:00pm – Arrival in Jericoacoara and check-in at the hotel.

Jericoacoara is isolated by dunes and rock walls and has one of the most beautiful beaches of Brazil! It seems like a rustic fishermen village with streets of sand. There are dunes of up to 30 meters, coconut trees and lakes! It is a heaven!


D. 05/01-17 - JERIOCOACOARA

- Yoga class at the beach. - Spectacular buggy riding through the beaches of “Jeri”, the sand dunes and freshwater lagoons, with stop for a great dive in the “Lagoa da Tatajuba”.

- Lunch will be at the Lagoa. You can taste delicious fresh fruit juices as well as fried and baked fish.

- Forró Class

D. 06/01-17 - JERICOACOARA

- Breakfast - We suggest you to wake up at early morning to see the sunrise!

- Free day to rest at the hotel or walk and take sunbath in the beaches accompanied by one of the monitors.

- At the end of the day we will go up to the top of a dune to see the wonderful sunset! Jeri is one of the only places in - Brazil where the sun hides in the sea!

- Visit to the village at night to buy souvenirs and handcrafts! Enjoy the time and take a delicious graviola ice-cream!


D. 07/01-17 - JERICOACOARA / FORTALEZA

- Breakfast and check out. (You can enjoy the morning hours to go to the beach in front of the hotel.)

- 11:00am – Departure to Fortaleza.

- Capital of Ceara, Fortaleza has 34 km of beautiful beaches and many tourist attractions that attracts Brazilians and foreigners throughout the year. The city's motto (found in his coat) is the Latin word "Fortitudine" which in Portuguese means "strength, value, courage."

- Lunch at bus stop on the road.

- 06:00pm - Arrival in Fortaleza and check in.

- Dinner

- We will visit the great Arts and Crafts Fair at the Orla da Praia de Meireles, especially the charming and beautiful hammocks of Ceara. One of the best craft fairs in the Northeast.

D. 08/01-17 - FORTALEZA

- Breakfast

- 10:00am – Departure to the Cumbuco Beach.

- 45 minutes far from the city, Cumbuco is one of the most visited beaches in Fortaleza, because of its beauty and also the sand dunes.

- Today you are going to enjoy yourself with many cool activities. Buggy ride through the sand dunes with a stop in the freshwater lagoon to do "skibunda" (get down from the sand dune sitting a board until you fall into the lagoon!) – Extra-cost.

- Here you will also have a nice and beautiful horseback riding through the great and beautiful Cumbuco Beach!

- Lunch at the beach.

- 04:00pm – Return to Fortaleza.

- Dinner


D. 09/01-17 - FORTALEZA

- 09:00am – Departure to City Tour.

We will visit the “Dragão do Mar” Cultural Center where the “Museu de Arte Contemporânea e Memorial da Cultura Cearense” is located. Then we will follow to the metal bridge, with a beautiful view of the city coastline from where we can see dolphins! It is a nice place for a delicious ice cream made from Brazilian tropical fruits.

- Lunch

- Dinner

Free afternoon to relax or enjoy the pool facilities at the hotel.

D. 10/01-17 - FORTALEZA / NATAL / PRAIA DE PIPA

- Breakfast and check-out.

- 08:00am – Departure to Natal

- Lunch at bus stop on the road.

- Time to do laundry or if you prefer you can go to the beach or enjoy the hotel facilities.

- 06:00pm – Arrival in Pipa and check-in.

- Free time to relax at the hotel.

- Dinner

- After dinner, you will have some time to walk through the charming village and see the handcraft and souvenir stores. There are some delicious ice-cream flavors here as well! Suggestion: Graviola!

Natal, capital of Rio Grande do Norte, is emerging as a major tourist destination in Brazil. Its natural beauties, the hospitality of its people and tranquility make the city a perfect place to enjoy the summer.

D. 11/01-17 - PRAIA DE PIPA / NATAL

- Breakfast

- During morning hours you can enjoy the beautiful Praia de Pipa and you will also get the chance (to be defined by the trip coordinator depending on the sea tide) to take a surf class (optional, extra cost).

- Lunch

- 01:30pm - Departure to the cultural city tour in Natal visiting the “Forte dos Reis Magos”.

In 1598 the fort was occupied by the Dutch between 1933 and 1654. It has a format that reminds a 5 points star with overlooking to the sea. There is the landmark of the discovery of Brazil.

- Typical Northeast dinner with cuisine of “sertão”

- Return to Pipa.

D. 12/01-17 - PRAIA DE PIPA / RECIFE

- Breakfast

- Free time to enjoy a little more the hotel facilities.

- 11:00am – Check-out and departure to Recife.

- Lunch at bus stop on the road.

- 06:00pm – Arrival in Recife and check-in at the hotel.

- Dinner

Hot sun, beautiful beaches, a sea of warm waters and very high spirits and joy! This is Pernambuco!(My state)

D. 13/01-17 - RECIFE / PORTO DE GALINHAS

- Breakfast

- 09:00am – Departure to Porto de Galinhas. Enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches of Brazil!

- With green, warm and clear water, with natural pools filled with colorful fish, Porto de Galinhas is excellent for snorkeling (only done at low tide) and raft rides (optional, extra cost).

- Lunch: In Porto de Galinhas there is a charming village called Vila de Todos os Santos, with many gourmet restaurants and shops with beautiful handcrafts. It’s great!

- 04:00pm – Return to Recife.

- Dinner

D. 14/01-17 - RECIFE

- Breakfast

- 08:00am – Departure for city tour.

- Cultural City Tour in the “Brazilian Venice”.

- We will go through the neighborhood of Recife Antigo (streets with colorful houses), Parque das Esculturas, Praça da República, Marco Zero (downtown) and also the Casa da Cultura, an old prison that today serves as a handcraft fair.

- Lunch

- 02:30pm – Visit to Olinda (World Historic Heritage City).

Old houses, churches and beautiful landscapes. This is Olinda, the cradle of Brazilian culture and also one of the most party cities of the country. All of its historic sites attract thousands of tourists. Not to forget the magic of the carnival, with its giant puppets, clubs of frevo, oxen, bears, masked people, maracatus and lots of joy!

- Dinner

- Carnival Party (to be confirmed)!

D. 15/01-17 - RECIFE / SALVADOR

- Breakfast and check out.

- 08:00am – Departure to Salvador, the incredible capital of Bahia!

- Lunch at bus stop on the road.

- 09:00pm – Arrival at the hotel and check in.

D. 16/01.17 -SALVADOR

- Breakfast

- 08:00am – Departure to Praia do Forte.

- Visit to the important Tamar Project (it protects the sea turtles), at the famous Praia do Forte. With breeding tanks of turtles, visitor center, museum, charming souvenir shop, the Tamar Project is a success in the preservation of marine life! It is a good opportunity to learn more about the environment and get closer to nature.

At the end of this visit, we will take a walk on the charming village of Praia do Forte. With its colorful shops, ice-cream shops with tropical fruits ice-creams, coffee places and also the famous typical food from Bahia: Acarajé!

- Lunch

- 02:00pm – Visit to the Historical Center of Pelourinho (it is a neighborhood with historical buildings of XVII and XVIII centuries, with narrow streets where it is located the first university of Medicine in Brazil.

Through the streets of “Pelô” (as it is affectionately called) you can find history, art, party... and lots of excitement! We will see the rich and beautiful “Convento de São Francisco de Assis” (built in 1702), which has the largest quantity of gold in Brazil, and the Museum of the Bahia writer Jorge Amado. Between an alley and another we are contaminated by the vibrant rhythms of the “axé” music, the “samba-reggae” and the african-brazilian rhythm! You can’t stand still!

The local lifestyle and its culture allow us to experience, as a native, this unique experience of a neighborhood inhabited mostly by descendants of black slaves from Africa that came to Brazil at the colonization period.

Curiosity: the name Pelourinho was borrowed from the columns where the slaves and criminals were whipped until the end of the nineteenth century. The pillories were disabled with the abolition of slavery.

- Then we will visit the “Dique do Tororó”, where the sculptures of the 7 Orixás and the “Farol da Barra” are located. At the “Mercado Modelo” and the shops of Pelourinho you will find the original Capoeira Pants and also the real “berimbau” (sound instrument played at Capoeira Shows).

- Dinner.

- 08:00pm – Folkloric Show.

D. 17/01-17 - SALVADOR

- Breakfast

- 8:00am - Departure for a wonderful boat ride to the Ilha dos Frades.

We will sail on the Baía de Todos os Santos with a stop for swimming in the semi-deserted beach of Ilha dos Frades. Bring your snack and we will have a fun picnic at the beach!

- Lunch .

- 04:00pm – Return to Salvador going straight to the hotel for a nice shower!

- 08:00pm – Dinner.


D. 18/01-17 SALVADOR / LENÇÓIS

- Breakfast and check-out.

- 09:00am – Departure to Lençóis/Chapada Diamantina.

- Lunch at bus stop on the road.

- 06:00pm – Arrival in Lençóis and check in at the hotel.

- Dinner.

The “Chapada Diamantina” is a unique natural spectacle in Bahia. It is huge, pulsating and charming! The Chapada Diamantina is a great spectacle of nature in the heart of Bahia. There, running water spring on the high peaks and slide through the topography in beautiful streams, waterfalls and make transparent natural pools. The vegetation is lush, especially the beautiful bromeliads, orchids and evergreens. An unforgettable setting for fresh air and fun.

D. 19/01-17 - LENÇÓIS

- 08:30am – Walk to “Ribeirão do Meio” (natural slide) where you can slide down a waterfall into the natural pool.

- Return to the hotel.

- Lunch at the hotel.

- In the afternoon you can choose between stay at the hotel enjoying the swimming pool and relaxing or to walk to the “Areia Colorida” Cave.

- Dinner. After dinner we will go to the small and simple village of Lençóis where you can taste a delicious fruit ice-cream. Suggestion: Cajá ice-cream!


D. 20/01-17 LENÇÓIS

- Breakfast.

- 08:00am – Departure in our bus for a super-day, full of adventures! You will go for swimming, trekking and exploring caves! Be ready for unique moments!

- We will go to the Mucugezinho River, after that the “Lapa Doce” Cave and finally, we will do a trekking up the “Pai Inácio” Hill (where we find the best view of the Chapada). As we will have a lot of activities, and the place does not have food options, we recommend that you bring a snack.

- Lunch at the Gruta da Lapa Doce restaurant.

- 04:30pm – Return to the hotel.

- Dinner

- 09:00pm – Capoeira Show! You can join a capoeira class after the presentation.

D. 21/01-17 - LENÇÓIS / ITACARÉ

- Breakfast and check-out.

- 09:00am – Departure to Itacaré.

- Lunch at bus stop on the road.

- 07:00pm – Arrival in Itacaré and check-in at the hotel.

- Dinner .

Itacaré is today one of the beach destinations most seeked by young Brazilians and ecotourism lovers! At the same place there is the opportunity to visit semi-deserted beaches, walk through “Mata Atlântica”, swim beneath waterfalls and do rafting! A paradise on the south of Bahia!


D. 22/01-17 - ITACARÉ

- Breakfast.

- Departure to enjoy the semi-deserted and spectacular beach of “Itacarezinho”.

- To get there we will walk through “Mata Atlântica” for about an hour. We will spend our day at this tropical scenery!

- Lunch at the beach.

- Return to the hotel. Time for a good shower!

- Dinner (included).

- Walk on the “Rua da Pituba”, where you can find shops and many ice-cream shops – try the açaí ice-cream!

D. 23/01-17 - ITACARÉ

- Breakfast.

- 09:00am – Departure to visit Havaizinho and Engenhoca beaches. Those two beaches are located in the most beautiful spot of Itacare’s coast. To get there we will take a walk through the Atlantic forest. Amazing!

- At Engenhoca beach we will have a fun surf class!

- Lunch at the beach.

- Return to the hotel and time to relax.

- Dinner (included).


D. 24/01-17 - ITACARÉ / ARRAIAL D’AJUDA

- Breakfast and check-out.

- 08:30am – Departure to Arraial D’Ajuda.

- Lunch at bus stop on the road.

- 05:00pm – Arrival in Arraial D’Ajuda and check-in at the hotel.

- Dinner.

Arraial D'Ajuda is one of the most exciting places of Bahia, with idyllic landscapes and lots of fun! The kitchen is a separate chapter: dozens of excellent restaurants and beach huts make wonders with seasoning, pleasing all tastes. Certainly a place to save in your memory.

D. 25/01-17 - ARRAIAL D’AJUDA / PORTO SEGURO

- Breakfast.

- In April 1500, the Portuguese landed in a new world across the Atlantic. The beginning of our history changed the south of Bahia, but the friendly people and many of its beautiful landscapes are still there as five centuries ago. You will see it!

- 09:00am – Visit to the historical city of Porto Seguro where it is located the Marco do Descobrimento and the first village built in Brazil. - After that we will follow to the Coroa Vermelha beach and the Parque Histórico de Santa Cruz de Cabrália.

In the Coroa Vermelha inhabit the Pataxó Indians, descendants of the Tupiniquins, inhabitants of this part of the Brazilian coast during the period of discovery. In Santa Cruz de Cabrália is located the cross that represents the first Mass held in Brazilian lands. A show of history!

- Lunch at the beach

- After that we will go to the Barraca Axé Moi at the beach in Porto Seguro. Be ready to experience the energy and Axé show – the rhythm of Bahia, where you can dance and have a lot of fun!

- 05:00pm – Return to the hotel.

- Dinner.

D. 26/01-17 - ARRAIAL D’AJUDA

- Breakfast.

- Time to do laundry or if you prefer you can go to the beach or enjoy the hotel facilities.

- Tip: Take a walk through the sandy streets of Arraial and visit the small shops. Very charming!

- Lunch.

- Dinner.

- Axé class!


D. 27/01-17 - ARRAIAL D’AJUDA / VITÓRIA

- Breakfast and check-out.

- 08:00am – Departure to Vitoria.

- Lunch at bus stop on the road.

- Dinner at bus stop on the road.

- 09:00pm – Arrival at the hotel and check-in.


D. 28/01-17 - VITÓRIA / RIO DE JANEIRO

- Breakfast included and check-out.

- 08:00am – Departure to Rio de Janeiro.

- Lunch at bus stop on the road.

- 07:00pm – Arrival in Rio de Janeiro and check-in at the hotel.

- Dinner

Welcome to the wonderful city! To feel Rio’s delightful atmosphere, we will walk through the famous promenade of Copacabana, along the beach to the art craft fair with tents to see and buy all kinds of crafts, from jewelry to home furnishings and clothing.

D. 29/01-17 - RIO DE JANEIRO

- Breakfast

- 07:30am – Cultural Tour – Historical Rio.

We will have a walking tour through the historic part of Rio de Janeiro, accompanied by specialized guides, visiting:

• N. Senhora Candelária Cathedral: Known for its colonial architecture and lush ornamentation inside, mixing various styles.

• Paço Imperial: Built as a residence for the governors of the Captaincy of Rio de Janeiro in the eighteenth century, it is now a cultural center. For its historical and aesthetic importance, the Imperial Palace is considered the most important civic colonial building of Brazil;

• Palácio Tiradentes: This palace was the scene of several important events in the political history of Brazil and is now the seat of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro;

• Visit to the charming Confeitaria Colombo, considered one of the ten most beautiful cafés of the world with its decoration of the early twentieth century in Art Nouveau style;

• Teatro Municipal: Main house for shows in Brazil and one of the most important of South America, opened in 1909 and was listed by the Historical and Artistic Heritage in 1973;

• Arcos da Lapa: Aqueduct built in 1723 which aimed to lead the water from the Carioca river from Morro do Desterro to Morro de Santo Antonio;

• Selarón Stairway: work of art by the artist Jorge Selarón which began with the artist’s decision to renovate the stair in front of his house. He ended up creating an art icon and worldwide famous steps!

- Lunch.

- In the afternoon we will visit the Sambódromo and the Maracanã Stadium. The Sambóbromo is the popular name of the “Passarela do Samba”, where the samba schools parade happens in Rio. Over the years is has been widely used not only during the Carnival parades but also for local events and famous concerts.

- The Maracanã is the largest stadium in Brazil. It hosted the soccer matches and the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2016 Olympic Games, which were held in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It was also the stage of some matches for the World Cup in 2014. We will see the field, the bleachers and changing rooms of the stadium and visit the Tower of Glass which houses part of the Museum of Maracanã, including the Walk of Fame where there are 100 immortalized pairs of feet of the biggest stars of world soccer!

- 04:00pm – Departure to the world famous Sugar Loaf. You will face one of the most amazing landscapes of Rio de Janeiro. The tour has two different parts: the first one is going up to the top of the stone called Morro da Urca; the second one is going to the top of the charming and spectacular stone of the Sugar Loaf. If the weather is favorable, you will experience a beautiful sunset!

- Dinner

D. 30/01-17 - RIO DE JANEIRO

- Breakfast

- 10:30am - Departure for the visit to a pacified favela. Favelas are often built on the outskirts of the main town, in a way that they become extensions of the city. In Rio de Janeiro, this kind of housing is more populous, and its proximity to central and more luxurious areas creates a strong social contrast. Pacifying Police Units established in some favelas made the communities a safer environment for residents and also visitors.

- Lunch

- Visit to the Fort of Copacabana, the stage of important events of Brazil's Military History and a great view of Copacabana Beach.

- Visit to the Copacabana art craft fair with tents to see and buy all kinds of crafts, from jewelry to home furnishings and clothing.

- Dinner.


D. 31/01-17 - RIO DE JANEIRO

- Breakfast

- 08:00am - Departure to visit the splendorous Cristo Redentor with its sublime view of the Baía de Guanabara and all Rio de Janeiro!!! Incomparable!! We will go up on the lift in the middle of the Atlantic Forest until we get to the top of the hill.

- Lunch.

- Departure to the Ipanema Beach.

In Ipanema, besides swimming and sunbathing, you can walk through the charming streets with great and famous "carioca" shops, enjoy some time on the coffee places, visit the famous restaurant/bar "Vinícius de Moraes", place where the world famous musician composed the great song "Garota de Ipanema" (Girl of Ipanema).

- Dinner

- 09:00pm – Samba and Funk class!

D. 01/02-17 RIO DE JANEIRO / HOST CITIES

And our trip comes to an end... With it, we will take a load of wonderful memories of the cities we visited, the knowledge about the culture and regional differences in Brazil, as well as new (and beautiful) friendships!

- Breakfast and check out

- Departure to the airport

- Flight to host cities.
